Party of Communists USA Statement on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

The Party of Communists USA, an integral part of the international Communist movement, commemorates the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

This year, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People takes place during a most dire situation. The fascistic Netanyahu government, facing immense pressure and resistance from the international community, is becoming increasingly desperate amidst the drastic attempts of the US-led imperialist bloc to keep the Middle East region divided and subjugated. Over 63,000 innocent Palestinian lives have been lost since October 7th, 2023, and now Gaza faces a crisis of starvation and societal collapse.

After the ceasefire, there has been much fanfare and self-congratulations of the so-called peacemakers Trump and Netanyahu. Yet, history has proven that agreements imposed by the imperialists can bring neither justice nor peace, because imperialism serves the interests of the monopolies, never those of the peoples.

Despite the horrifying escalation this crisis has took in recent years, the Israeli government’s persecution of the Palestinian people is nothing new. The apartheid system employed against the Palestinian people and religious minorities in Israel is long documented by the United Nations, and the Israeli government continues to shirk its obligations to follow the laws of the Geneva Convention as an occupying power.

In the footsteps of the Soviet Union, the most faithful and loyal ally of the oppressed and colonized peoples of the world, American communists in the PCUSA demand an end to all economic, military, and political cooperation with the murderous state of Israel, the immediate restoration of civilian infrastructure and the creation of conditions for a dignified life for the residents of Gaza, the complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces both from the Gaza Strip and from the West Bank, and the immediate cessation of the illegal and criminal settlement of Palestinian lands.

Peace in the Middle East can only be established with Israel’s withdrawal from the occupied Arab territories and the full implementation of the relevant UN resolutions for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
