Party of Communists USA Celebrates the Legacy of Comrade Joseph Stalin

December 18th marks the anniversary of the birth of Comrade Joseph Stalin. Despite the slanders of the corporate-owned media, Stalin was a pioneer of racial inclusion and affirmative action. The most marginalized people under Tsarism were now elevated by the Soviet government to full equality in society.

For example, before the Bolshevik Revolution, Jews were relegated to live outside of the cities or what was called “Beyond the Pale of Settlement” and thus denied opportunities for medical studies in universities. After Lenin and Stalin’s leadership of the Bolshevik Revolution, for the first time, there emerged many Jewish doctors.

In December 1936, under Comrade Stalin’s leadership, the Soviet Union ratified its famous constitution that guaranteed “the right to work, the right to rest, and the right to education” regardless of race, gender, and religion. Stalin’s 1936 constitution also established the Soviet of Nationalities which guaranteed representation of all peoples in the Soviet Government, which until then, was never seen in the world.

In leading the struggle against worldwide white supremacy and genocide of the Nazi regime, the Indian Confederation of America, which represented 27 native tribes, awarded Comrade Stalin the title and headdress of Honorary Chieftain.

In the 1920s and 1930s Black Americans, facing extreme joblessness in the United States due to the Great Depression and general discrimination, thousands sought refuge in the Soviet Union where they were able to be educated and provided with well-paying jobs such as in the field of engineering.

Comrade Joseph Stalin’s achievements in racial equality are so massive that famous African American singer Paul Robeson remarked that while in Stalin’s Soviet Union, “… I felt for the first time like a full human being. No color prejudice like in Mississippi, no color prejudice like in Washington. It was the first time I felt like a human being.”

The Party of Communists USA commemorates the life of Comrade Joseph Stalin. We take this time to celebrate all the achievements he made towards the struggle for racial equality, affirmative action, and fraternal relationship of the international proletariat.
