January 3rd, 2026 will go down in history as a new stage in the tactics of US imperialism dealing with the peoples of the world who are striving for independence, peace, and security. After several years of failed attempts to overturn the 1999 Bolivarian Revolution through sanctions and cloak and dagger techniques, the kidnapping of democratically-elected Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has ripped off the so-called “liberal” facade of US imperialist aggression.
Cuba called for an immediate response from the international community against US kidnapping of Maduro and his wife. Mexico strongly rejected the aerial bombings and illegal invasion unilaterally carried out in recent hours by the armed forces of the United States against targets on the territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in clear violation of article 2 of the Charter of the United Nations (UN).
The League of Nations failed stop the fascist bullies who brought on the monstrosity that was World War 2. Has the United Nations become the toothless League of Nations? The bully in the schoolyard can do whatever they want. There is nobody to stop that bully. We used to have a guardian called the Soviet Union who used to defend us in the schoolyard against the bullies. When we lost the Soviet Union, we lost our bulwark, we lost our international defender, and we lost our friend and comrade against the mechanisms of world monopoly capital.
The situation continues to look grim. However, it is not so complex that is unsolvable. There is a light at the end of tunnel. Comrade Karl Marx said it best, “Mankind thus inevitably sets itself only such tasks as it is able to solve, since closer examination will always show that the problem itself arises only when the material conditions for its solution are already present or at least in the course of formation.” In other words, the solution arises alongside the problem. The problem today is that US imperialism is running amok around the world and the solution is unified internationalism guided by the science of Marxism-Leninism.
